第一步Step 1

办理报案手续，取得派出所出具遗失报告。

Go through the reporting procedure and get the lost property report issued by the police station.

确认护照丢失的位置。如果你知道具体的位置，向周围的当地人询问负责那个地区的警察局，然后到警察局去申请护照遗失并拿到遗失报告。

Confirm the location where you lost your passport. If you know the exact location, you can ask the local people around you about the police station in charge of the area, then go to the police station to apply for loss of passport and get a lost report.

如果不知道自己的的护照确切丢失在哪里，去你居住地相关的警察局报失。如果你是出差或休闲旅行，去酒店或公寓的派出所办理护照挂失。

If you don't know exactly where your passport is missing, go to the police station where you live. If you are on a business or leisure trip, report the loss of your passport at the police station near your hotel or apartment.

综上所述，警方报案应在失物发生的地区派出所备案，但如果护照遗失在不明地区，则应在居住地派出所备案。

To sum up, a police report should be filed at the local police station in the area where the lost property occurred, but if the passport is lost in an unknown area, it should be filed at the local police station in the place where the person lives.

第二步Step 2

到公安局出入境办理《外国人护照报失证明》。

 Go to the PSB to apply for a "foreigners passport loss certificate."

准备什么资料?

What documents required?

1)三张2英寸免冠彩照。

2)证明身份的证件(护照扫描件/复印件、母国身份证、驾照、学生证等)。

3)护照遗失报告。

4）填写外国人出入境证件报失表。

5) PSB认为必要的任何其他文件。

1) Three 2-inch bareheaded color photos.

2) Proof of your identity (passport scan/copy, home id card, driver's license, student card, etc.).

3) Passport loss report.

4)Fill out the application form for loss of passport.

5) Any other documents the PSB deems necessary.

《外国人护照报失证明》30天有效，并且得到机场、铁路、酒店等部门的认可。所以外国人可以用它来环游中国，直到拿到一个新的有效护照和签证。

The certificate is valid for 30 days and has been approved by the airport, railway, hotel and other departments. So foreigners can use it to travel around China until they get a new valid passport and visa.

在此阶段，建议提前与贵国大使馆联系，了解护照补办手续的时间和要求。

At this stage, it is suggested to contact your embassy in advance to know the time and requirements of passport replacement procedures.

第三步Step 3

凭《外国人护照报失证明》前往所属国驻华使、领馆申领新的护照，并到公安机关补办签证证件方可合法居留或顺利离境。

Apply for a new passport at the embassy or consulate of your country in China by presenting the certificate of foreign passport loss report, and apply for a new visa from PSB to the legal residence or leave the country.

注意：请自行保管好《外国人护照报失证明》原件，给予大使馆复印件。在你的新护照签发之前，原件将是你的官方身份证明文件。

第四步Step 4

持申请到新的护照后前往公安出入境部门申请相应种类签证证件。

Apply for a corresponding type of visa at PSB.

护照签发后，持新护照和《外国人护照报失证明》以及补发原签证所需的相应材料到出入境部门申请相应种类的签证。

After the new passport is issued, you will need to apply for the corresponding type of visa at PSB with the new passport, the certificate of loss of the foreigner's passport report and the relevant materials required for reissuing the original visa.
